Today reaffirmed what we have always known: my awesome English skills have no limits.
At the first session of scoring of your AP Exam, the Table Leader said to me several times, "You're doing a great job!"
So, say hello to the table's teacher's pet: ME!
At any rate, I will score an absurd number of responses to question three from your exam-- the Thomas Paine argument question.
So far, so good.
Oh, and the first five students to post a legitimate comment to this post will receive two bonus points on their summer reading blog assignment... SO GENEROUS!
Although I cannot imagine you as a teacher's pet, I can clearly picture you being praised for your talents (look who's the pet now!). I hope the essays are breathtaking to make losing your vision more tolerable. Good luck grading!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your summer is off to a crazy start! An obnoxious amount of essays on Thomas Paine, burning through tons of grading pens, and quickly going from teacher to teacher's pet sounds like a lot to handle all at once! Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteAnd to think I was picturing you reading poolside all this time! I completely forgot that you were determining the fate of hundreds of other teenagers across the country. I must admit though, the image of you rapidly grading essay after essay among a flurry of papers seems much more fitting. Either way, I hope your vacation is going splendidly. Have fun(?) and good luck!
ReplyDeleteIt would be really ironical if you received one our essays to grade (You had to know that if I saw this without five comments I was going to use that word in my response, and all subsequent posts for that matter). I'm glad that I remembered that Thomas Paine was part of the Black Panthers, otherwise that question might have stumped me. Also, ever since you painted a picture of your high school self for us in Words, I can definitely imagine you as the Table Leader's pet. Good luck with the rest of your grading!
ReplyDeleteWhile most people would hide and be embarrassed at being called a teacher's pet, I am not surprised that you love it.. Also the thought of grading ap essays, these blogs, and reading seems overwhelming but only you can pull it off. I think you are the ultimate achiever and the fact that you enjoy it all is insane. I Hope we all make you proud, enjoy the rest of your summer!
ReplyDeleteThis will probably be my favorite blog post of this summer. Honestly, the thought of hundreds of hundreds of essays on an 18th century revolutionary would bore me to death (I wonder, how many people confused him with someone else?). Anyway, I really hope you don't lose your sanity grading papers, I know I would.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I hear someone at my table say they've just graded a string of 7's, 8's, and 9's, I'm sure it's our papers! But... I don't ask them for the school code because I'm already annoying them enough.
ReplyDeleteOf course, now I know to listen for the essay about Thomas Paine as leader of the Black Panthers. Stellar work as always, Colin.
And Connor, it's only the first week of summer vacation. Please keep hope alive for the rest of my posts.
